Vintage Spotlight: Heywood-Wakefield Furniture is Iconic, Yet Still Surprisingly Affordable
For most of us, when the name Heywood-Wakefield is mentioned we might get a passing glimpse in the mind's eye of blonde Mid-century Modern furniture, if the name is familiar at all. But, as it turns out, the Heywood brothers were making chairs, tables, and dressers, and beds since 1826!
Mod Furniture Focus: Heywood-Wakefield
The five Heywood brothers began making chairs in 1826 and the company was formally introduced as B.F. Heywood & Co. in 1835. After going through several name iterations, the company eventually merged with Wakefield Rattan Company, Inc. in the late 1890s and eventually ended up as Heywood-Wakefield Co. in 1921.

Headquarters and manufacturing are recorded separately, because they are often different places: a brand headquartered in one country frequently manufactures in another. Tabarnam lists what the catalog holds and marks the rest unknown. Entries come from public sources and may be incomplete or out of date — production moves.
